Baluch cushions were and still are used as storage and handling in Afghanistan. These tribal goodies are unqiue to each peice. As they are made village people, each saddle bag has it's own quirks. They can be used as rugs and or cushions. They were also stuffed to make cushions to lean against. Bonus aspect is that you can use both sides!
